OPERATIONS ADMINISTRATOR-CFRC

This position will direct the administrative and financial operations of a large and complex center, or multiple centers. Serve as the administrator for an assigned academic center.

 

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Directs the administrative and financial operations of a large and complex center, or multiple centers.
  • Serves as the administrator for an assigned academic center.
  • Directs the administrative and financial day-to-day operations of a center.
  • Position will liaison with Southern Research (S) and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF), HSOM Dean's Office, and UAB Legal in the development and operation of the SR/CFF/UAB collaboration.
  • As a key partner to the center director, works to establish center objectives.
  • Assists Center Director with strategic, operational, and tactical planning and goal setting for the center.
  • Represents the Center in relationships with external agencies and partners to help facilitate collaborative research efforts and partnerships.
  • Represents and speaks on behalf of the Center Director with regard to all administrative and financial matters, with administrative units at all levels.
  • Prepares contracts and agreements on behalf of the Center Director with both internal and external partners and agencies.
  • Conducts and oversees analysis/forecasting/budgeting, oversight, legal documentation, formal agreements, international and domestic project administration and management of the center.
  • Assists and advises the Center Director regarding development of policies/guidelines relating to administrative, fiscal and operational functions.
  • Establishes the administrative and financial systems for the center.
  • Provides oversight and administrative direction for all grant management activity and clinical research compliance matters.
  • Prepares and/or reviews budgets for grant and contract applications; assist researchers with financial aspects of IRB submissions.
  • Functions as the center's resource when preparing grants.
  • Oversees the Center's pre-award, post-award and close-out process for all sponsored projects.
  • Oversees compliance, and ensures adherence to Federal, and State regulations and guidelines and UAB, HSF, HSOM and Department-based policies and procedures.
  • Supports and monitors research-related financial activities to ensure compliance with UAB and funding agency regulations.
  • Contributes to research strategic planning across the institution.
  • Serves as an advocate for the center.
  • Advises the leadership team on administrative matters and acting on its behalf in the rendering of business decisions.
  • Works with leaders throughout UAB in a spirit of open collaboration to facilitate a more integrated enterprise.
  • Directs, manages and supervises center staff as needed to ensure completion of major projects and tasks related to center administration and major center responsibilities - across research administration/grants management, human resources, finance, facilities, clinical operations, and/or other business functions.
  • Contributes to research strategic planning across the institution.
  • Serves as an advocate for the center.
  • Advises the leadership team on administrative matters and acting on its behalf in the rendering of business decisions.
  • Works with leaders throughout UAB in a spirit of open collaboration to facilitate a more integrated enterprise.
  • Provides guidance to faculty and staff, as needed, concerning financial and administrative operations of center.
  • Manages facilities and space for the Center, thereby collaborating with UAB, HSF, and Department facilities and space management staff; including management of the Center space and equipment inventories.
  • May serve on Department-based, HSOM, Campus-wide, HSF, and/or Health System committees, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Salary Range: $89,880 - $146,055

 

Qualifications

 

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • And five (5) years of related experience required.
  • Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement
