Position Summary/Description:
Open Rank faculty position in the Bone Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program in the Division of Hematology University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
UNC-Chapel Hill is seeking to identify outstanding candidates to work in the Bone Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program. Applicants must have significant experience in autologous and allogeneic transplantation, adoptive cellular therapy and a strong interest and background in clinical or translational research. The ideal candidate will have also have experience in cord blood and haploidentical stem cell transplants. The Bone Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy program is a robust clinical and translational research program. This growing program is performing approximately 185 transplants per year and an additional 70-80 cellular therapy treatments. The program is seeking a clinician investigator to complement a strong basic science effort led by several NCI funded investigators and an extremely well-funded cellular therapy program with a clinical good manufacturing process facility just off campus that generates adoptive cellular therapy products
The person recruited to this position will be required to attend on the inpatient bone marrow transplant unit and potentially the adult malignant hematology services. Here they will be responsible for the care of patients undergoing autologous, allogeneic, and/or unrelated donor, haploidentical or cord blood transplantation. This person will also care for patients undergoing autologous adoptive cellular therapy for both malignant hematological and oncological diseases (solid tumors).
Additionally, they will be responsible individually and in assistance with the APPs in the bone marrow transplant clinic for the evaluation and management of new patients undergoing stem cell transplantation or cellular therapy and the follow-up of patients after bone marrow transplant or adoptive cellular therapy. They are expected to participate in clinical/translational protocols both in the development of these protocols as principal investigators and in enrolling patients to ongoing protocols within the program. These protocols would include cooperative group protocols as well as investigator-initiated protocols run through the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. It is anticipated that the person recruited to this position will become a member of the clinical program of the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Academic rank and track will be determined by the candidate's experience and achievements. This position can be fixed term, tenure track or variable track.
