The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business at Cornell University invites applications from qualified individuals for a tenure track faculty position in Corporate Sustainability, beginning July 2023, for placement in one of our seven areas: Accounting, Applied Economics and Policy, Finance, Management and Organizations, Marketing & Management Communications, Operations, Technology, & Information Management, or Strategy & Business Economics. The area will be determined based on research area/interest and teaching experience. Rank is open (assistant, associate and full professor); salary and rank are commensurate with experience and qualifications. Seasoned candidates with established track records in research and teaching could be eligible for the Dean’s Distinguished Professorship in Corporate Sustainability if the candidate is able to provide meet the instructional needs of graduate and undergraduate courses in corporate sustainability management topics.

We seek an outstanding scholar with a track record of research in leading academic outlets in the area of corporate sustainability, sustainable finance, or environmental resource management. Candidates may come from backgrounds in economics (including environmental and resource economics), strategy, finance (including ESG investing and financial management), accounting, marketing, operations/data science, or management. The successful candidate is expected to maintain an impactful program of research relevant to broad societal, economic, and business issues and to communicate results to policymakers and practitioners. Excellent teaching skills are a must. The successful candidate will also be expected to be actively involved in Cornell University’s Atkinson Center for Sustainability, the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business’s interdisciplinary theme, The Business of Sustainability, and in the College’s centers related to sustainability issues, such as the Center for Sustainable Global Enterprise.  

It is expected that our faculty teach across multiple schools within the College of Business.

Candidates must have a PhD in economics (including environmental and resource economics), strategy, finance (including ESG investing and financial management), accounting, marketing, operations/data science, management, or a related field by the time they start in the position. Preferred candidates will demonstrate high standards of accomplishment in research, teaching, and service.

The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business (established on July 1, 2016) combines three Schools: the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management (Johnson), the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management (Dyson), and the Peter and Stephanie Nolan School of Hotel Administration (Nolan). The College houses top-ranked undergraduate and MBA programs as well as additional graduate programs that award Ph.D., M.S. and M.P.S. degrees. Faculty members frequently collaborate with colleagues in Computer and Information Sciences, Economics, Engineering, Natural Resources, the New York City Tech campus, and other units on campus.
