About the Opportunity

The College of Professional Studies invites applications from qualified candidates for a twelve-month, full-time, non-tenure track, open rank, renewable faculty position to develop and teach biotechnology and biology courses at the bachelor’s level. This position is located at the Northeastern University Boston campus.

Responsibilities: 

This full-time faculty member will teach core biotechnology courses, such as Introduction to Biotechnology, the Capstone course, and Pharmaceutical Processing, to undergraduate students in Boston. The successful candidate will prepare lectures, assignments and student engagement in in-person and online courses, provide timely coaching and feedback on assignments, and consistently connect with students.

In addition, this faculty member will act as a liaison between the biotechnology program and Massachusetts-based partner organizations, advise students, create new course work and customize courses as needed, update the existing curriculum, as needed.   This unique position seeks to integrate professional practice into the classroom, specifically with respect to the Massachusetts bioscience ecosystem. 

Qualifications: 

·         Ph.D. in biotechnology, biochemistry, cellular biology, or a related field by the appointment start date.

·         One or more years of experience teaching at the bachelor’s level.

·         Commitment to teaching excellence at the university level.

·         Commitment to fostering diverse and inclusive environments and promoting experiential learning.

·         Excellent communication skills.

·         Ability to work productively and successfully interact with students, faculty, staff, and industry partners.
