Position Summary:

The University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine is accepting applications and nominations for a Faculty Position the School of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Sciences (SPTRS) within the Morsani College of Medicine to begin Fall 2024.

This is a 12-month, full-time (1.0 FTE) non-tenured faculty position will remain open until filled.  The School is seeking a dynamic individual with a history of teaching experience. The applicant is expected to have expertise in one or more of the following areas: evidence-based practice, foundational sciences, imaging, interprofessional education, movement sciences, and musculoskeletal patient care.  The focus of this position is to address the School’s educational mission, however the candidate will also have research and service workload. In addition participation in residency education may be an opportunity. Faculty rank and salary are highly competitive and commensurate with qualifications.

The mission of the School of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Sciences (SPTRS) is to “Move Lives Forward” through the education of students in an inclusive educational, research, and clinical environment that embraces diversity, innovation, discovery, knowledge, expertise, leadership, collaboration, and partnerships. SPTRS is comprised of expert faculty and staff who support our education, research, and clinical missions. Our faculty includes licensed athletic trainers and physical therapists that are educators, researchers, clinicians, and leaders in their respective professions. This is an exciting opportunity to work at an established DPT program that is ranked in the top 50 programs in the US (US News and World Reports). Our CAPTE accredited DPT program has recently implemented a curriculum revision and maintains excellent program outcomes. We also benefit from being part of a multi-disciplinary inter-professional team across the care continuum provided by USF Health and the Morsani College of Medicine.

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching within in the DPT program
  • Pursuit of research/scholarship
  • Service on School, College and institutional governance committees, as well as in public/professional organizations.

Minimum qualifications: 

  • Must be a physical therapist who holds a current license to practice as a PT in any United States jurisdiction and is eligible for licensure in Florida
  • Entry-level degree in Physical Therapy (BS, MS, or DPT).
  • Doctoral Degree (e.g., DPT with specialization or PhD, EdD, DSc, etc.)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a physical therapist and/or educator.
  •   Desire to teach in area of expertise
  • Contemporary expertise in specific content to assigned teaching area.
  • APTA membership.
  • An area of scholarly interest.
  • Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Prior academic teaching experience.
  • PhD degree, or equivalent.
  • ABPTS Board Certification or equivalent.
  • History of scholarly activity and dissemination.
