Open Rank Faculty – Department of Health, Behavior, and Society

UT School of Public Health San Antonio

The University of Texas School of Public Health San Antonio (UTSPHSA) was established in 2022 as a collaboration between The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (also called UT Health San Antonio) and The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), both Hispanic-serving institutions. The new graduate school will provide academic instruction relevant to public health and serve as a focus of research activities directed toward community health problems as it maintains and grows relationships with all entities interested in public health. The School will offer master's and doctoral programs in public health.

The Department of Health, Behavior, and Society (HBS) at UTSPHSA seeks candidates with demonstrable academic skills for faculty positions within the Department and welcomes faculty with diverse research, teaching, and service interests in various fields of study, emphasizing social drivers of health, health equity, One Health, and dissemination and implementation science. We seek individuals who bring expertise, passion, and commitment to working with vulnerable populations, designing, implementing, and evaluating multicultural approaches to prevent disease, improve well-being, and promote a healthy society for all. Disciplines may be broad, including but not limited to health disparities, social and behavioral sciences, diabetes and metabolic disorders, cancer, sexual health, infectious diseases, substance use, and health communication.

The Department seeks to identify successful candidates with demonstrated research portfolios, scholarly publications, and experience in teaching coursework appropriate to graduate-level instruction in community health, health behavior, and related fields and their application to public health. Faculty will be expected to contribute formally to the academic curricula, teach graduate courses, and actively engage in forming the School through internal and external service activities. Applications for appointment to all ranks (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) and tracks (tenure-track, tenured, or non-tenure track) will be reviewed and considered; the level and type of faculty appointment will be based on the candidate’s professional and academic experiences.
