Scope of Job
We seek applicants who are dedicated to serving The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s diverse student body as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the School of Rehabilitation Services & Counseling beginning in the 2024-2025 academic year.
Clinical faculty in the school are expected to teach an average of 4 courses per semester including clinical, field-based supervisions. Additional responsibilities may include managing and supervising student clinical placements, developing new affiliation sites, and maintaining positive relationships with existing clinical sites.

Minimum Qualifications
Clinical Faculty: These titles are used for individuals involved in a professional clinical experience program. They may be used to designate part-time or full-time service on faculty.  
Clinical Instructor: This title is used for individuals who will serve as teachers and whose experience and qualifications meet SACSCOC and school/college accreditation requirements. Teaching experience at the post-secondary level and three years post-graduate work experience in rehabilitation services or related field with at least two years in direct service. Minimum of Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, addictions counseling, expressive arts therapy, psychology, or related area from an accredited institution. In addition, this title requires professional certification or licensure in an area related to the discipline.   
Clinical Assistant Professor: In addition to the qualifications of Clinical Instructor, this title requires at least three (3) years of relevant experience with a record of teaching effectiveness, educational leadership, and clinical scholarship.  
Clinical Associate Professor: In addition to the qualifications of Clinical Assistant, this title requires at least six (6) years of relevant experience with a record of teaching effectiveness, educational leadership, and clinical scholarship.  
Clinical Professor: In addition to the qualifications of Clinical Associate Professor, this title requires at least seven (7) years of relevant experience, a terminal degree or equivalent, an extraordinary record of accomplishment in sustained teaching effectiveness, educational leadership, and distinguished clinical scholarship.  
Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
(1) professional certification or licensure in an area related to the discipline (e.g., CRC, LPC, LCDC)
Preferred Qualifications
· (1) clinical and clinical internship supervision experience
  (2) PhD in Rehabilitation Counseling or related field

UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may
require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is
performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive
and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code
§51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of
Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least
135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement
Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week
and at least 135 days in length.
