Open Rank Clinical Faculty Physician – Primary Care (College of Medicine)

This clinical faculty physician position will staff the Family Care Center for the UH College of Medicine.  This clinician will be responsible for all patient care activities, including chronic care management, acute care, and care coordination. This clinician will practice comprehensive primary care medicine including the provision of women’s health and some office-based procedures. At this time, all faculty appointments in the College of Medicine are non-tenure track. The College of Medicine anticipates being able to make tenure track positions available for application in the future. This clinician will serve as the Chief Medical Officer of the Family Care Center for the UH College of Medicine.

This position will also contribute to the educational mission of University of Houston College of Medicine both in Clinic and through facilitation of team-based learning sessions and didactic sessions for medical students in other pre-clerkship medical school courses. This position will report directly to the Chairman of the Clinical Sciences Department. 

Specific duties include the following:

Direct Patient Care (90%)

• Evaluate and treat patients at the University of Houston College of Family Care Center site.
• Provide input for the development of clinical protocols and guidelines for practice.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
• Participate in community outreach activities.

Educational Mission (10%)

• Contribute to Team Based Learning Sessions and Small Group Sessions in the Physicians, Patients and Populations Course and other courses with the preclinical and clinical curriculum at UHCOM.  
• Precept medical students at the University of Houston College of Medicine Family Care Center practice as part of the Longitudinal Primary Care course. 

Full-Time: 1.0 FTE

• Medical Licensure in the State of Texas
• Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine or Medicine-Pediatrics
• Experience documenting with an electronic medical record 

Preferred Qualifications:

• At least 3-5 years clinical experience
• Experience with inter-professional teams
• Experience contributing to quality improvement projects
• Bi-lingual in Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic or Chinese
