Job Summary | Eastern Washington University and the College of Health Science and Public Health at Eastern Washington University invite applications to fill one tenure track position in the Department of Wellness and Movement Sciences to begin September 2023. Appointment rank will be either as tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor, depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in our Bachelor of Science in Public Health program. In addition, the successful candidate will advise undergraduate public health students and will have opportunities to collaborate with our Master of Public Health program. The successful candidate will also teach other departmental courses as needed, demonstrate teaching excellence, and engage in scholarly research, professional growth, and service. Additionally, all faculty are expected to actively participate in assessment of student learning and to engage in effective teaching. Information about the Department Eastern’s WAMS faculty bring knowledge and experience in teaching, research, and service to their undergraduate and graduate programs. We are especially interested in a colleague who complements our existing faculty. The department’s undergraduate programs prepare students to complete degrees in Exercise Science, Health and Physical Education, Outdoor Recreation and Leadership, Public Health, Recreation and Tourism Management, and Therapeutic Recreation. The department also offers Master of Science degrees in Athletic Training and in Wellness and Movement Sciences. |

Conditions of Employment | To be considered eligible for appointment into the position, applicants must be available and able to start in the position no later than 09/16/2023. This position is located on Eastern’s residential campus in Cheney, Washington, and the successful candidate will be expected to teach and maintain regular office hours on campus. This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value, as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment. Responsibility / Duty | A Faculty Activity Plan will be developed by the end of the first quarter of the selected candidate’s appointment, and will consist of a combination of teaching, research, service and/or time to perform administrative duties, as negotiated and as needed to meet the needs of the department. Teaching: A typical workload for this position will involve teaching 36 credits per academic year (80% of the total workload), subject to department needs. This position will teach undergraduate courses in Public Health, as well as other courses for the Department as needed. Teaching also includes the following additional responsibilities as defined in the faculty CBA:
