Position #1 (ID# SCI-ENG-CEMENT) — Purpose: Conduct research in cement and cement integrity, including wellbore applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in applied engineering or applied geosciences with an entrepreneurial mindset to join a team translating the synergy of a geoscience-engineering technology for a sustainable cement solution into practice.
Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in Rock Physics/Rock mechanics, Energy geoscience and engineering, Civil Engineering, or related fields with expertise in geotechnical/geomechanics testing, micro- and nano-scale imaging techniques (SEM and TEM). Experience in cement chemistry and material synthesis will be a plus. Responsibility: Conduct research on laboratory experimentation and analysis of physical and mechanical data, focusing on deformation and fluid flow in geomaterials; be proactive in task management, project planning, and reporting.
Position #2 (ID# SCI-ENG-CARBMIN) — Purpose: Conduct research in carbon mineralization in basalt rocks. The ideal candidates will have a strong background in applied geosciences/geophysics with experience in integrating experimental rock physics/mechanics with solid-fluid interactions in porous media. Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in Rock Physics/Rock mechanics, Energy geoscience and engineering. Candidates with experience in petrophysical characterization and rock deformation and development of experimental apparatuses will be given priority. Responsibility: Conduct research on laboratory experimentation and analysis of physical and mechanical data, focusing on deformation and fluid flow in rocks; be proactive in task management, project planning, and reporting.
Position #3 (ID# SCI-AEs) — Purpose: Conduct research in H2 and CO2 injection and geophysical monitoring through acoustic emissions. The ideal candidates will have a strong background in applied geophysics/seismology with experience in acoustic emissions (AE) sensors in a laboratory setting, data acquisition, and processing. Required Qualifications: a Ph.D. in physics, rock physics, geomechanics, geotechnical engineering, or closely related discipline. Responsibility: Conduct research on laboratory experimentation and analysis of geophysical data, focusing on cracking porous materials; be proactive in task management, project planning, and reporting.
