Clinical faculty (regardless of rank) - faculty positions within the university that are not tenure track and not eligible for tenure; on a fixed term contract.   Persons with the title of professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical, assistant professor-clinical and instructor-clinical. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty department and, as appropriate, regional campus; Clinical faculty are teacher/practitioners and will be engaged primarily in teaching activities.  These faculty normally have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field or equivalent experience.

Position Overview

The Ohio State University’s School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences invites applications for a clinical faculty member within our Occupational Therapy (OT) division at the Professor-Clinical, Associate Professor-Clinical, or Assistant Professor-Clinical rank. This position consists of an initial 5-year appointment that is renewable based upon annual reviews. We are seeking faculty who will teach within the OT program in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences; mentor students; participate in accreditation activities and teach a variety of courses in support of the OT program. Successful candidates must have appropriate educational preparation to teach within our OT program. Our clinical faculty have a majority of their time committed to teaching but must have a record of excellence or strong evidence of ability to meet expectations not only as an educator but also a productive scholar, and committed professional. The scholarship of discovery, scholarship of integration, scholarship of application, and scholarship of teaching and learning are all valued forms of scholarship for clinical faculty.

Performance Objectives

Successful candidates must be able to:

• teach in-person and online within adult rehabilitation and/or orthopedic OT;
• contribute to our graduate programs (MS or PhD) in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences;
• mentor students with diverse backgrounds and learning styles;
• Mentor students completing capstone projects in the OTD program;
• contribute to the science of the profession through a focused scholarship program; and
• contribute high level service to the program, School, College, University and professional organizations.
• The candidate will undertake 65% teaching, 10 - 25% scholarship,10 - 25% service.

Education and Experience Requirements

Required :  degree in occupational therapy; licensure or eligibility for licensure as an occupational therapist in the State of Ohio; evidence of strong teaching ability, including distance/online; ability to mentor graduate & professional students.  Earned terminal doctoral degree (e.g. EdD, PhD, ScD, DHSc, post-professional clinical doctoral degree or equivalent).

Desired :  clinical expertise in adult rehabilitation and/or orthopedics (e.g. disorders of the upper extremity; biomechanics)

Division of Occupational Therapy

The Division of Occupational Therapy in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS) is located in a large, energetic academic medical center and research extensive university, offering an array of collaboration and innovation opportunities.
