Open Tenure-track Faculty Position Department of Engineering Education
The Department of Engineering Education (EED) invites applications for a tenured faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor to start August 2020. We are seeking proven, innovative scholars in engineering and/or computing education who will help build the EED.

Highly competitive candidates will have demonstrated experience with the following:

• Pioneering significant scholarly contributions to engineering and/or computing research using quantitative research methods with large data sets
• Effectively collaborating with both tenure-track and non-tenure-track faculty members from different disciplines
• Applying evidence-based pedagogical teaching techniques with attention to inclusion of multiple perspectives and demographics

Successful candidates will be expected to:

• Establish a world-class funded research program that graduates doctoral students, produces peer-reviewed journal articles and conference proceedings papers, and supports continued growth of our program through grants and other scholarly activities
• Cultivate department research initiatives
• Collaborate with scholars within the department, within the college, within the university, and across the engineering and/or computing research communities.
• Contribute to continued improvement of our first-year engineering fundamentals courses, including engineering technical communication courses and multidisciplinary courses that include capstone design courses
• Build our graduate program and research enterprise
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses
• Develop undergraduate and graduate courses and curricula
• Participate in various service areas including department and college committees
• Represent the EED to the global engineering education community

The EED was created in November 2015 and the doctoral program was approved in Spring 2018. In Autumn 2019, approximately 20 graduate students were enrolled in the doctoral program. The EED undergraduate curriculum is centered around first-year core courses, technical communication, multi-disciplinary capstone, and other specialized courses and programs.

The EED’s mission includes advancing the engineering profession and enabling student success by:

• Contributing to the development of world-class scholarship in engineering and/or computing education
• Modeling and advocating scholarly, evidence-based teaching within the College of Engineering
• Developing and delivering state-of-the-art, innovative, multidisciplinary courses and programs in first-year engineering, engineering technical communication, and multidisciplinary capstone design

Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
 Ph.D. or terminal degree in an engineering discipline, computing discipline, computing education, engineering education, education, or equivalent field from an accredited institution of higher education
 Established record in conducting research in innovative and influential areas of engineering and/or computing education
 Demonstrated excellence in teaching and service
 Demonstrated commitment and capabilities to mentor undergraduate and graduate students
 Demonstrated commitment and capabilities to mentor early-career faculty in engineering education

Desired Qualifications

Desired Qualifications:
 Exceptional record in conducting scholarly research in innovative areas of engineering and/or computing education, specifically using quantitative research methods with large data sets.
 Demonstrated leadership abilities
 Ability to collaborate with diverse teams of scholars across all faculty ranks in the department and within and outside the university to form new communities of engagement and scholarly research in engineering and/or computing education
 Commitment to engaging actively with other engineering and/or computing departments and colleges across The Ohio State University
