Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Responsible for general management of all online graduate program student services including admissions, recruitment, student services, communications, and records.
  • Serves as the primary contact and liaison with faculty, staff and administrators in the unit, school, campus, other universities and professional associations on matters that relate to online graduate students. 
  • Contributes to the development of new and existing online programs, polices, and procedures. 
  • Serves as member of the Online Admissions and other relevant committees. 
  • Aides the School's Director of Online Education in establishing goals, priorities, and operational procedures involving online student services. 
  • Oversees online student events including orientation, graduation, immersion weekends, and other ad-hoc campus events. 
  • Aides in the development and implementation of graduate admissions processes for online programs in consultation with the Director of Online Education and Admissions Chairs. 
  • Coordinates prospective student webinars, and maintains yearly communication plans. Serves as primary contact for admissions concerns and resolves problems with other academic units including the Office of International Services, the University Graduate School, and the Office of the Registrar. 
  • Oversees online student inquiries and records management. 
  • Informs current online students of academic policies and procedures and refers students to additional departmental or campus resources when applicable. 
  • Consults students with oversight from the Director of Online Education regarding academic issues, course substitutions, and degree progress. Seeks guidance from the Director of Online Education, Departmental Chairs, or Academic Dean on more complex academic issues related to curriculum or other personal issues. 
  • Provides information regarding online graduate students as requested. 
  • Accountable for the online student prospect management cycle. 
  • Serves as liaison with the School development and communication offices, and primary contact with campus partners. 
  • Responsible for recruitment efforts, which includes travel and participation in graduate recruitment fairs and professional conferences. 
  • Under the direction of the Director, designs communications content and is a liaison with the school communications office in support of recruitment and students services.
    Data Analysis, Reporting, and Management: Ensure faculty and staff reporting needs are met with accurate, relevant, and timely data management. 
  • Produces and reports necessary admissions, enrollment, recruitment, and academic data for Program Directors and leadership, and other school administrators as requested.

General Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements programs and initiatives that touch on various/multiple student-related goals, such as enhancing and reinforcing academic engagement and experiential learning; increasing student engagement, wellness, and involvement; fostering learning, inclusion, and development; supporting students in crisis and adversity; and improving the student campus experience.
  • Interfaces directly with students by attending student programming events, advising student organization leaders, meeting 1-on-1 to discuss areas of concern on campus, and gathering satisfaction feedback from student participants to implement into future student services initiatives and objectives.
  • Collaborates with staff in own department and other departments, as well as academic and campus leaders, on shared student services goals, often coordinating funding to sponsor student programs and initiatives.
  • Projects outcomes for services offered at the program, department/division, or campus level. Measures and evaluates effectiveness of student services against projected outcomes; may prepare reports on impact to students and budget and may present to stakeholders on effectiveness and to secure funding for initiatives moving forward.
  • May serve on committees and perform student services research across the field of higher education and at peer institutions to identify and recommend best practices.
  • Plans and coordinates communications for student services initiatives to ensure student participation and engagement.

EDUCATION

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in public affairs, counseling, social work, education, business, or related field

Preferred

  • Master's degree in higher education student affairs or related field

WORK EXPERIENCE

Preferred

  • 4 years in student services, higher education, or related field

This role requires the incumbent have the ability to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment for extended periods of time, the ability to attend meetings, and the ability to communicate verbally and in writing with a variety of people. This role also requires independent decision-making, management of multiple tasks, the ability to adhere to deadlines, confidentiality, and maintenance of concentration with frequent interruptions.  The role also requires that the incumbent remain calm under pressure and to present clear and accurate information to others in a professional, tactful manner, as this role requires intense mental concentration much of the time. The position also involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.  The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

$41,000.04 per year and $46,000.08 per year dependent upon experience and internal equity.
