Department Summary

Position Summary

The Online Education Proctor provides exceptional customer service to students, staff, faculty, and community members utilizing the UO Online exam center. The Online Education Proctor greets visitors, answers questions, handles complaints, makes referrals as appropriate, and provides program information. The Online Education Proctor must be able to explain rules, policies, and procedures in common and uncommon situations to a wide variety of audiences.

The Online Education Proctor maintains exam security at the UO Online exam center by confirming student identity, monitoring active exam sessions, verifying allowed materials, safeguarding exams and passwords, and collecting exam materials. This position helps students to schedule on-campus exams or arrange proctoring for off-site exams. The proctor will work independently and must exercise sound judgment. The person in this position will work without daily oversight and will manage the operations of the online testing center independently.

This position reports to the UO Online Exam Manager.


Minimum Requirements

• Two years of general clerical experience. One year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR
• An Associate's degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology; OR
• Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology and one year of general clerical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelors’ degree
• Two years’ experience in customer service
• One year experience working in higher education
