Job Description

This role will drive an essential part of the Learning Enterprise mission to create stackable pathways to career mobility and degree attainment. You will support the delivery of a group of discipline-specific courses (PSY 101) at scale, thus providing thousands of learners with foundational learning in this critical discipline area that will enable them to find a pathway to higher education and economic mobility. 

You will report to Foundational Learning leadership (within Learning Enterprise) and the Online Course Manager. You will support the Faculty of Record in facilitating the course objectives and content. As a key member of the ULC academic infrastructure, you will support high-quality instruction at scale, introducing thousands of learners to the discipline. Furthermore, you will be responsible for managing affiliated personnel—student worker graders and instructional aides, who support your group of discipline-specific courses, thus ensuring the best quality learner experience. You partner with the ULC and ASU/Ed Plus instructional design team and student success team to deliver the courses effectively. You will also work with the other Psychology Online Course Coordinator throughout each session as you facilitate the delivery of the course(s) in Google Classroom (and Canvas as needed).

This position and salary will be reviewed and renewed annually. This may be a temporary position and may terminate when the work is no longer available. Additionally, this position is funded in whole or part by sources other than general operating appropriation and may terminate when funding is no longer available.

Essential Duties

In your first year, you will:
Run operations for PSY 101-Introduction to Psychology, in Google Classroom to maximize learner success and potential for scalability, specifically: 

  • Provide engaged presence on in-course discussion boards, answering learner questions, providing feedback and stimulating discussion, learning and community building among learners
  • Supervise graders/Instructional Aides for the course(s)
  • Conduct comprehensive training sessions for instructors on our Foundational Learning systems, empowering them to effectively utilize the platform and optimize their teaching techniques.
  • Offer constructive and insightful feedback on the quality of work submitted by both instructors and students, supporting continuous improvement and fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Aid in course norming and pacing to ensure that the curriculum is well-structured and aligns with our educational objectives, maximizing student comprehension and engagement.
  • Take charge of grading processes, ensuring that evaluations are completed in a timely manner, and maintain high standards of accuracy and fairness.
  • Host weekly check-in meetings with the course grading team to discuss progress, address challenges, and implement strategies for enhancing course efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Maintain the quality and consistency of feedback provided to students, empowering them with actionable insights to further their academic growth.
  • Resolve learner issues in consultation with other Online Course Managers and the Faculty of Record, including reviewing and resolving Academic Integrity issues


Participate in course evaluation to improve learner experiences

  • Collaborate with Faculty of Record and other Psychology Online Course Coordinator on future course revisions, as needed

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field with 4 years experience in an alternative educational environment OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.

  • You have demonstrated online teaching excellence in Psychology courses at the university level
  • You are obsessed with designing ways to use technology to support and enhance course delivery at scale
  • You enjoy working as part of a team to deliver content and support learners at scale
  • You are proficient working in Google Classroom to manage all aspects of a course
  • You possess a demonstrated passion for the work of Arizona State University and our commitment to engaging a broad range of learners
  • You have demonstrated the ability to work independently, exercising good judgment that prioritizes learner experience and success

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • May be required to perform tasks in the field within and/or across University campuses. 
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
