The Department of Education at Otterbein University invites applications for a one-year, non-tenure track visiting position in Special Education or Literacy Education. Ph.D. (Assistant Professor rank) preferred; Masters in Literacy/Reading Education, or English/Language Arts Education, or Special Education (Instructor rank) considered.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Teach four undergraduate courses per semester (fall and spring), during the daytime and evening hours; support the process of ongoing submission and evaluation of program data; and foster relationships with area schools to support field placements for teacher candidates. The successful candidate is expected to attend education department meetings, provide service to the department by serving on subcommittees, and participate in recruitment and retention events. Faculty members are expected to be involved in professional and community activities for scholarship, professional development, and service.
QUALIFICATIONS

The department offers undergraduate and MAT programs at the initial licensure level. Successful candidates will have knowledge of and experience with either Council of Exceptional Children (CEC) standards for teacher preparation, or International Literacy Association and state of Ohio standards for reading teachers; familiarity with current Ohio legislation in Science of Reading a plus. The successful candidate will also have a minimum of three years' experience at the PK-12 level, a strong background in literacy and/or special education, the ability to prepare and support students for field placements, and have strong skills in leadership, collaboration, and communication.

COMPENSATION: For the rank of Instructor - $55,000; for the rank of Assistant Professor - $61,000 (plus full University benefits).
