The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, seeks to hire an outstanding scholar for a Presidential Visiting Faculty Fellow position (https://academicaffairs.rutgers.edu/presidential-visiting-faculty-fellows ) on our New Brunswick/Piscataway campus. The search is open to all areas of biomedical engineering. We especially welcome applicants with interests in in vitro and in vivo models to study traumatic brain injury and CAR T cell toxicity in cancer, killing of microorganisms with pulsed electric fields, and mitochondrial transplantation, The Visiting Faculty Fellow is expected to interact with other ongoing Rutgers BME research projects, as well.
The successful candidate will be housed in the BME building; have access to rich teaching, experimental, and computational resources on campus; and engage with faculty and students within the department and the University community at large. Job duties will include: 1) lecturing in the NIH Rutgers Biotechnology Program’s Topics in Advanced Biotechnology courses given in the spring and fall semesters on high impact topics in bioengineering and biotechnology; 2) offering a 3-credit elective course on a hot topic of choice (e.g., 3-D Printing and Additive Manufacturing; Biotechnology and Food Security; Robotics and Miniaturization) that will be acceptable to a broad range of science and engineering undergraduate students; and 3) playing a pivotal role in furthering the institution’s goals of diversity, equity, and inclusive excellence.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
Successful candidates will have a PhD in biomedical engineering or a related field; a significant record of securing competitive research funding; and a track record of nationally and internationally recognized scholarship in fundamental and translational research. We are also seeking candidates who bring a wealth of broad experience and a proven track record of fostering diversity and inclusivity with many different populations.
