Essential Job Duties
Join our team as an Onboarding Specialist and dive into the exciting world of creating memorable experiences for new employees! You will get the opportunity to welcome new members of the Wolfpack community and serve as a backup by participating in bus and walking tours that showcase our campus. 
In this role you will play an important part in providing support to temporary and permanent employees, supervisors, and HR representatives across NC State. Additionally, you will get the opportunity to assist with onboarding new temporary employees that work for UNC-Chapel Hill. 
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Provide efficient and welcoming onboarding experiences for temporary employees.
  • Serve as a backup for services to permanent employees, including transfers and separations.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert, offering consultation to campus departments and supervisors on onboarding/offboarding processes.
  • Possess broad knowledge of policies and procedures related to payroll, FLSA, benefits, IT systems, identity management, transportation, I-9s, and international employment.
  • Identify, develop, coordinate, and facilitate employee engagement activities to align with the university’s mission and vision.
  • Monitor data trends and recommend/implement initiatives to address areas of impact.
  • Generate queries to analyze individualized onboarding/separation needs.
  • Conduct one-on-one meetings to address critical tasks.
  • Serve as backup facilitating New Employee Orientation sessions, manage program content, and coordinate Benefits Orientation.
  • Respond to customer inquiries via email, phone, and in-person interactions.

Qualifications


Minimum Experience/Education
Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
 
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

  • Familiarity with the University’s onboarding/offboarding policies and procedures.

  • Capacity to handle emotionally charged employee situations with composure and resilience.
  • Capability to create and implement tailored initiatives based on assessment outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years of human resources experience
  • Experience with PeopleSoft or other HR Information Systems.
