This position will assist the Oklahoma Mesonet in both their research and their data services duties. The data services work will entail fulfilling data requests from the public via email and/or phone calls. Applicant should be comfortable communicating with scientists, government officials, and the general public to efficiently provide weather and climate observations in a timely manner. Research duties would involve various forms of field work. Current research projects will involve travelling to remote locations in Oklahoma to perform routine equipment repairs and vegetation maintenance.
- Available to work between 8am-5pm (around class schedules).
- Available during summer months.

Job Requirements
---
Required Education: Must be currently enrolled in the current Spring 2024 Term as a student at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.
Must attach class schedule.- Currently enrolled in Sophomore or Junior coursework
Skills:
- General meteorological knowledge of measured variables from weather stations.
- Basic Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel knowledge.
- Customer service abilities (emailing, phone calls).
- Knowledge of basic hand tool use.
Advertised Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 40 lbs.
- Ability to traverse pasture fields
Supervision:
- Will be co-supervised by two Oklahoma Mesonet full-time employees.
Department Preferences:
- Meteorology, Geography and Environmental Sustainability, or Aviation majors
- Basic Linux commands.
- Basic Python programming.
- Valid driver's license.
