The Director of the Office of Respect develops, leads, and oversees comprehensive response and prevention efforts related to issues of sexual and relationship violence and stalking affecting Emory University students. The primary responsibilities of the Director include: leading the coordination of university’s response systems related to sexual violence, relationship violence, and stalking; providing support to and advocacy for students affected by sexual and relationship violence and stalking; and facilitating the university’s comprehensive sexual and relationship violence prevention program focusing on prevention of sexual assault, domestic/intimate partner violence, and stalking.

    

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Oversees office’s efforts to provide comprehensive support to students who have been affected by sexual violence, relationship violence, or stalking.
  • Provides clinical and administrative supervision to Office of Respect staff.
  • Develops and leads the university’s efforts in the coordinated prevention of sexual violence, relationship violence, and stalking including creation of tailored programming. Participates in, and leads relevant university committees and task forces.
  • Partners with relevant campus partners to coordinate effective 24-hour on-call and crisis response for students who may have experienced sexual or relationship violence.
  • Provides individual advocacy for students affected by sexual violence, relationship violence, or stalking.
  • Facilitates referrals and connections to campus resources (e.g., Student Health Services, Counseling and Psychological Services, Emory Police, Title IX, Academic Advising, Case Management etc.) and community resources (e.g., city police, emergency department medical professionals, etc.) as appropriate to address safety, healthcare, mental health, housing, academic, and other needs.
  • Collaborates with individual students regarding reporting options for students who have experienced sexual violence, relationship violence, or stalking, and provides ongoing assistance through reporting, judicial, and/or legal processes as requested.
  • Closely partners with the University’s Title IX Office and other relevant campus groups/professionals around both individual and community-based response and prevention regarding sexual and relationship violence and stalking.
  • Advises, trains, and mentors student groups and leaders invested in sexual violence, relationship violence, or stalking prevention efforts.
  • Creates and delivers relevant evaluations and reports related to services
  • Supervises, evaluates, and provides feedback for direct reports.
  • Develops and implements operational and strategic plans for the office.
  • Responsible for monitoring and strategic management of the office’s personnel and operational budget.
  • May develop, forecast, and report on budget status.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

  • The Director of the Office of Respect will manage (2) Respect Educators, Graduate Assistants, Administrative Assistant.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A master's degree in a mental health field: Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field with expertise in sexual assault and domestic/relationship violence prevention and response, and four years of related experience.
  • State licensed or license-eligible in a mental health discipline.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of gender-related issues and other cultural influences of sexual and relationship violence and stalking. Understanding of applicable privileged communication laws, and the ability to manage confidential information and to use sound judgment in responding to crisis situations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health promotion related to sexual assault and domestic/intimate partner violence prevention and stalking with college-age populations.
  • Excellent written/verbal/digital communication skills including public speaking, effective utilization of technology, and utilizing team building and partnerships across campus to advance mission.
  • Skilled in data collection, research, and program evaluation.
  • A terminal degree in a mental health discipline or higher education and five or more years of experience is preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Terminal degree in a mental health discipline or higher education.
  • Oversight of comprehensive response and prevention
  • Five or more years of relevant experience
  • Crisis intervention and health promotion experience on a college campus.
  • Experience supervising clinical services is strongly preferred.
  • Completion of prior training or certification in sexual assault and relationship violence response      

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location.  Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
