What We're Looking For
The Department of Classics housed in the College of Arts & Sciences is seeking an Office Manager who will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the department. The successful candidate will have strong organizational and time management skills, be detail-oriented, and have expertise in providing excellent customer service. The candidate must be a self-starter and work well in a team environment.
A high school diploma, three years of relevant experience and an active Christian faith are required. A Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States on a Full-Time basis.
What You Will Do
  • Provide direct support to the Department Chair on management of resources and communications.
  • Work with the Graduate Program Director on MA and PhD Recruiting, and any graduate student related support.
  • Assist in planning and scheduling departmental events.
  • Provide administrative support to the Undergraduate Program Director: assisting with course registration petitions, managing scholarship process, supporting recruitment and retention initiatives, assisting students with registration issues.
  • Oversee the national Latin and Greek exams for undergraduates, e.g. ordering exams, scheduling rooms, helping to proctor exams, handling exams once taken.
  • Work with the Office of the Registrar and building administration on enrollment as well as course and classroom scheduling.
  • Schedule and input class teaching schedules in CLSS.
  • Schedule and coordinate Spring Grad Premier events.
  • Assist faculty with Welcome Week activities for graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Schedule departmental faculty meetings.
  • Manage and post on website and social media sites.
  • Coordinate and process annual faculty reviews.
  • Coordinate and process annual staff reviews.
  • Manage faculty recruiting including drafting job descriptions, marketing open positions, and scheduling campus visits.
  • Process temporary lecturer hires, faculty teaching overloads and supplemental pay.
  • Process faculty, staff, and student separations.
  • Oversee work study students hiring and separations.
  • Oversee the work and timecards of the work study students.
  • Oversee visiting speakers including scheduling travel, lodging, meals, posters, room reservations, the payment of honoraria and incidental expenses.
  • Oversee faculty and staff office moves and moveouts.
  • Update bulletin boards.
  • Oversee and update information in electronic Box folders.
  • Input facility work orders as well as key and building access requests.
  • Other duties as assigned by Chair.
  • Work on special projects assigned by Chair, Undergraduate Program Director, Graduate Program Director.
  • Support the Christian mission of Baylor University and the Department of Classics
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission
  • Ability to comply with University policies
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
