Summary of Duties:

The Office Assistant 3 position provides complex office support to the School of Language, Cultures and Race within the College of Arts and Sciences. Duties include but are not limited to: complex scheduling, spreadsheet and database maintenance, file maintenance, logistical planning for events, purchasing requests, office supplies inventory, and processing and distributing incoming phone calls, mail and faxes. Position serves as the Receptionist for the unit and as first point of contact for visitors and general information.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School graduation or equivalent and two years of clerical experience; OR equivalent education/experience.

  • Strong computer skills including demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office software, Internet and email.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Associates degree in a related field.

  • Two years of experience serving as a primary point-of-contact in an office environment.

  • Experience in higher education, complex academic institution or similar complex organization.

  • Previous customer service experience.

  • Familiarity with the University’s Business Policies and Procedures Manual, especially sections pertaining to purchasing, the Purchasing Card Program, and university forms.

  • Experience in developing, maintaining, and/or using computerized record systems and information management.

  • Excellent edit/proofreading skills.

  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team. and as part of a team.

Monthly Salary: Range #34, $2,827 - $3,650 –Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
