Position Summary
Career Readiness Learning Objectives:
Professionalism – The student office assistant is the first point of contact for students, faculty, and guests on the 3rd floor of CBI. They will help to create a welcoming and professional atmosphere for all.
Technology – The student office assistant will work with data on a regular basis. In addition, they will be responsible for maintaining updates on common computers in the building.
The Dahlkemper School of Business is seeking a summer student office assistant. This position reports to and is supported by the secretary for the School of Business. The summer office assistant will work approximately 15 hours per week, M-F between 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
The office assistant will be responsible for providing support for the Dahlkemper School of Business faculty and staff. Primary responsibilities are as follows:
  • Office Support: The office assistant will perform a wide variety of tasks to support the school of business. Tasks include producing flyers for school-sponsored events and communications, making copies, copier maintenance, maintaining bulletin boards, managing computer updates throughout the building, and running errands on campus.
  • Data Projects: The office assistant will be expected to work with Excel spreadsheets on a regular basis.
  • Reception: The office assistant will be responsible for coverage of the DSB student worker desk. They are expected to greet visitors and direct them to the appropriate person or room if needed.
  • Event Support: The office assistant may be asked to provide support for school and/or college events as their schedule allows.

In addition to the responsibilities listed above, the office assistant may also be asked to complete other tasks and projects as assigned by the DSB secretary.
Required Qualifications
Candidates are expected to have an intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel and have an interest in working with data. They must be able to keep sensitive data confidential.
Additionally, candidates must be reliable, have strong organizational skills, and be a positive representative of the Dahlkemper School of Business and Gannon University.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with data visualization skills are preferred.
Physical Demands
Must be able to meet the demands associated with a busy office environment. Requires light lifting.
