Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and Wellness, the Office Assistant provides support and administrative assistance for Health and Counseling Services including scheduling, scanning, billing, secretarial and receptionist duties. The Office Assistant for Health Services primarily supports the Health Center but is able to perform necessary functions for the Counseling Center when required.

The Office Assistant is responsible for answering incoming calls, directing calls to the appropriate staff, taking messages, greeting, and checking in patients for appointments and scanning information into patients’ chart in EMR.

Job Duties

  • Greets and directs all patients within the practice.
  • Confirming patient demographic information in the chart.
  • Verifying insurance information.
  • Scanning pertinent patient information into the EMR.
  • Schedules any necessary appointments as needed..
  • Monitor and review patient schedules for the next day office appointments.
  • Patient billing.
  • Assists & supports medical team as well as administrative team.
  • Maintain cleanliness of waiting room.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • At least one-year relevant experience and or training.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong organizations skills.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as accept direction on different given assignments.
  • Able to work collectively with staff.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous EMR experience
