Summary of Job Duties:

This is a PRN position
Kids First is currently seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our interdisciplinary team at the UAMS Kids First clinic. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a crucial role in providing evidence-based evaluation and therapy techniques tailored to the needs of children from birth to 5 years old who present with a range of fine motor delays and disorders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Certified by the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state of Arkansas.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working as an Occupational Therapist, preferably with pediatric population.

    Knowledge, Skills & Activities:

    • Strong knowledge of developmental milestones and typical childhood development.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members, parents, and caregivers.
    • Commitment to delivering compassionate and family-centered care.
    • Willingness to travel to other Kids First locations as needed.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy may be substituted for the experience requirement.


    Additional Information:

    Responsibilities:

    • Conducting thorough evaluations to assess fine motor skills, visual perceptual motor skills, sensory processing, self-help skills, upper extremity strength, range of motion, muscle tone, dynamic sitting/standing balance, and trunk stability using appropriate diagnostic instruments.
    • Determining the need for adaptive equipment and splinting, as well as providing recommendations for their use.
    • Reviewing standardized scores, clinical judgments, and observations to formulate accurate diagnoses and treatment plans.
    • Translating assessment findings into professional documents, including treatment recommendations, goals, and objectives tailored to each patient's needs.
    • Collaborating with the child's primary care physician (PCP) when necessary to discuss assessment results and recommendations.
    • Implementing direct therapy interventions based on evidence-based techniques and continually monitoring progress to make necessary modifications to treatment plans.
    • Documenting all services provided in a timely and professional manner, ensuring compliance with Kids First and Medicaid billing guidelines.
    • Collaborating effectively within the interdisciplinary team and engaging families as active participants in the treatment process.
    • Communicating regularly with families, other therapists, nurses, social workers, directors, developmental staff, and contractors to ensure coordinated.
