We are looking for an Occupational Safety and Health Inspector I to join our dynamic, thriving Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) department of the Office of Safety and Security. Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two years of work experience

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid State of Texas driver license or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire. Failure to obtain a valid TDL may result in termination

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have computer skills in such areas as spreadsheets, word processing, and relational databases
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Some college coursework
  • One year of work experience in a safety-related field, such as industrial hygiene, fire safety, occupational safety or occupational health

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiar with the use of Microsoft Office software


Responsibilities

  • FUME HOOD TESTING - Performs qualitative and quantitative testing on chemical fume hoods using specialized equipment. Visually inspects chemical fume hoods and reports mechanical malfunctions for repairs. These duties require driving a university vehicle to various locations.
  • DATABASES - Uploads data from specialized equipment to TrakPro software program. Generates test reports and documents those results in the BioRAFT software system. Updates BioRAFT with the most current user and equipment information.
  • WORK ORDERS - Submits repair requests for chemical fume hood repairs and tracks them to ensure repairs are made in a timely manner.
  • COORDINATING - Coordinates testing, re-testing and repairs of chemical fume hoods with laboratory personnel and maintenance staff.
  • OTHER SAFETY PROGRAMS - Participates in other safety programs within TAMU EHSD.
  • EMERGENCY RESPONSE - Responds to emergencies, accidents, or incidents as necessary. These duties require driving a university vehicle to various locations.
