Job Summary

Under the supervision of the OHS Administrative Officer, OHS Administrative Director and the OHS Medical Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for providing direct clinical care to employees under standardized procedures and for participating in Occupational Health programs such as medical surveillance, outbreak and exposure response.

Department Description

This position is part of the Occupational Health Services (OHS) team of clinicians and administrative staff who are dedicated to improving the occupational wellbeing and safety of the One UCSF community.

UCSF must address the need of UCSF Fresno employees to readily access occupational health services and medical care at the UCSF Fresno campus.


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum one (1) year Occupational Health RN experience in an ambulatory care setting
  • Recent (within six (6) months) experience taking triage calls as related specifically to (musculoskeletal, psychological and exposure) workplace injuries, performing pre-employment physicals, compliance documentation management, experience with COVID vaccine exception requests, required occupational vaccine administration and PPD placements
  • This position requires flexibility to orient and obtain onsite training in San Francisco at a designated UCSF Medical Center OHS location
  • Utilize nursing theory and practices standards as required under the California Nurse Practice Act
  • Must have knowledge of health promotion, common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment, ergonomics, workers’ compensation and OSHA law
  • Demonstrates proficiency with physical assessment and other clinical skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and establish and maintains effective working relationships with patients, staff, employees, physicians, students and allied health forces
  • Demonstrate ability to instruct patients and implement educational programs
  • Ability to exercise skills in preparing and maintaining records, written reports and correspondence
  • Possess skills in developing and maintaining department quality assurance and improvement projects
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and adheres to privacy, confidentiality, and security policies and procedures related to Protected Health Information (PHI) or other sensitive and personal information
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and adheres to safety and infection control policies and procedures

Preferred Qualifications

  • COHN or COHN-S Certification
  • Public Health Nurse
  • Advanced Nursing Degree

License/Certification

  • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
