Job Description:

The Lansing School of Nursing and Laboratory Sciences is seeking a qualified clinical educator to provide experiential learning across the curriculum. These may include: Foundations of Nursing, Adult Medical-Surgical, Complex Health, Pediatrics, Women's Health, Psychiatric-Mental Health, and Community Health Nursing.

This is a regular, 12-month teaching assignment which may include weekends and/or evenings. In alignment with the University's commitment to equity and inclusion, we seek an individual dedicated to and invested in equity and inclusiveness.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Implements the nursing department's philosophy and curriculum through clinical teaching.
  • Serves as a professional role model for nursing students and adjunct clinical instructors.
  • Promotes student learning and skill attainment.
  • Provides clinical instruction, supervision, and evaluation in the clinical learning environments.
  • Maintains current knowledge related to agency/clinical policies, procedures, and expectations with the assistance of the agency/clinical personnel and attends all required orientations.
  • Communicates with the agency clinical assignments consistent with nursing students' current knowledge base, skills competencies, and individual learning needs.
  • Plans nursing students' clinical experiential learning according to course and clinical syllabi.
  • Provides direct supervision of nursing students when in the clinical environment.
  • Documents and provides formative and summative evaluation to nursing students according to course and clinical syllabi.
  • Reviews nursing students' clinical work or other assignments as directed in a timely manner and in accordance with course and clinical syllabi.
  • Communicates with course faculty regarding student concerns.
  • Maintains professional standards of practice as a registered nurse and Bellarmine staff member including but not limited to licensure, training, certifications, and current health requirements.
  • Follows policies and procedures as outlined in the Bellarmine University BSN Handbook.
  • Communicates and collaborates effectively with course instructors/other faculty, and students including weekly reports.
  • Maintains required office hours.
  • Participates on assigned committees.
  • Mentors new clinical instructors.
  • Assists with Clinical Conferences (development, presentation, etc.)


Requirements:

  • MSN strongly preferred; or BSN with completion of MSN within 12 months of hire.
  • Current health records/immunizations; current CPR certification.
  • 2 years of paid clinical teaching experience, not including precepting.
  • Current license or eligibility to hold an unencumbered license to practice nursing in Kentucky and/or Indiana.
