Position Summary Information


Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Division of Craniofacial and Surgical Care provides a diverse approach to treatment for patients with craniofacial or oral and maxillofacial conditions, including those with multiple or complex oral health problems. The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery discipline functions within the Adams School of Dentistry and UNC Hospitals and specializes in implant surgery, jaw tumors and disease, trauma surgery, cleft palates, facial cosmetic surgery and much more.
Position Summary
This position is eligible for a SIGN ON BONUS of $5,000 to be paid in two installments:
$2,500 within 90 days of your hire date and
$2,500 6 months after hire date.

The Division of Craniofacial and Surgical Care is seeking a valuable nursing professional to join our oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) team. The ideal candidate is energetic, flexible, patient-focused, and possesses excellent critical thinking skills. Teamwork, effective communication, and efficiency are essential to our interdisciplinary approach. The oral and maxillofacial surgery nurses support outpatient surgical care in the OMFS faculty and resident clinics. The Nurse is responsible for peri-operative care and safety of the sedated and/or anesthetized patient including assessment and monitoring, placement of IV lines, and medication administration.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience in recovery room, emergency medicine, critical care, or outpatient surgery.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification
Required Licenses/Certifications
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Daily responsibilities require the Nurse to be on their feet regularly; standing to assist at surgery; walking to locate equipment, supplies, charts, and patients; transporting patients in wheel chairs or assisting ambulatory patients; and walking between the Dental Faculty Practice, the Dental Clinic, the OMFS Administrative Office, and UNC Hospitals.
