Position Summary:

UTHealth Neurosciences (UTHN) is a dynamic team that seeks to provide an enriching environment based on values of compassion for our patients and each other as well as continually striving for excellence.  UTHN is looking for a seasoned nurse practitioner to join our group of advanced practice providers of over 35 individuals that help support our services across the greater metropolitan area of Houston.  This position will serve as a provider partner in the Will Erin Headache Clinic located in the Texas Medical Center. Scope will encompass performing comprehensive examinations and developing treatment plans while being supported by on-site physician.

 

Position Key Accountabilities:

• Performs relevant patient assessments and physical examinations.
• Coordinates, directs, and implements patient’s plan of care.
• Orders, conducts, and interprets pertinent laboratory and diagnostic studies and procedures.
• Makes medical recommendations and/or referrals.
• Formulates, implements, and evaluates an outcome-based treatment plan.
• Maintains appropriate records detailing the patient’s treatment plans and outcomes.
• Facilitates patient education relating to medical processes, medication, nutrition, and health promotion.
• Collaborates with patients, families, other clinicians, and referral services to assist in the patient’s recovery.
• Other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

• Current Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse
• Current Texas Licensure as an APRN-NP, and specialty certification as required by department
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified

 

Minimum Education:

• Masters in Nursing as NP or Masters degree in Nursing with completion of a post-masters Nurse Practitioner Certification Program.

 

Minimum Experience:

• None

Preferred Experience: 

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
• Neurology expereince (headache) preferred 

 

Physical Requirements:

• Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
