Position Description:

Job Title: Nurse Practitioner

Department:  Medicine

Division:  Pulmonary and Critical Care

Location:  Froedtert Hospital                       

Workweek:  8-5, M-F; Varies based on business need


Supervising/Collaborating Physician:  Julie Biller, MD

Provides primary or specialty health care services within defined scope of practice in collaboration with a licensed physician and in accordance with MCW/FMLH/CHW policies and procedures.



  • Performs   comprehensive histories and physical exams, identifies normal and abnormal   findings, including physical, cognitive and psychosocial status.
  • Orders and   interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Develops   pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans.
  • Monitors   effectiveness of plan of care.
  • Educates   patients on disease and treatment plans.
  • Performs   procedures as trained and appropriately credentialed.
  • Documents within   the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and completes other necessary documents.
  • Collaborates and/or   consults with physicians and other health care providers as appropriate.
  • Educates,   counsels, and assists patients and families regarding current health   problems, health maintenance activities and preventive behaviors.
  • Provide care to general pulmonary   patients in an outpatient setting.
  • Provide lung cancer management to   include ordering radiology imaging/CT scans.   
  • Maintain at least eight clinic half   days per week in the Pulmonary Clinic.
  • Order and interpret pulmonary   function tests and other necessary lab and diagnostic tests; Follow-up with   patients regarding test results.
  •  Complete necessary documentation in Epic EMR   in a timely manner.
  • Attend sub-specialty specific   national conferences when appropriate.
  • Assist in recruitment and consent   of clinical research subjects when necessary.

    Education Requirements

    Master’s Degree (appropriate education and experience may   be substituted on equivalent basis)


    •   Zero years of   experience required
    •   Previous   experience in an outpatient pulmonary setting is a plus.

    •   Wisconsin RN   license
    •   Wisconsin   Advance Practice Nurse Prescriber License
    •   Certification   as Advance Practice Nurse
