Job Summary

UCSF Primary Care Laurel Village seeks a full- time Nurse Practitioner with the ability to support and provide care of pediatric to adult patients in an Ambulatory Clinical Setting. The NP will have a critical role in the outpatient setting, with both team member and individual duties. These responsibilities will include triage, in-basket management, medication and diagnostic ordering, interpretation of test, and responding to messages and phone calls. Other responsibilities also include patient examination and assessment, diagnosis, and planning; treatment implementation, coordination, and continuity; performance of specific procedures, development of practice protocols and evaluation of quality care, education of patients, patients, families, and other health care practitioners.

Department Description

UCSF Health provides a wide range of primary care services for patients of all ages, from infants to seniors. Our doctors, nurses and other health professionals work to keep patients healthy with preventive medicine, screenings and education. We treat acute medical problems and also manage ongoing conditions.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum one to two (1-2) years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in an outpatient Primary Care or Family Medicine setting.
• Experience providing pediatric, adult, and geriatric patient care as part of their clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Must have experience with clinical documentation in an electronic health record.
• Possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the assigned position.
• Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two (2)+ years experience as a Nurse Practitioner in a Primary Care Setting.
• Experience using APeX/EPIC

License/Certification

• California Driver’s license (CDL) if required for position.
• Must hold current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work.

• Must hold a current and active RN and NP and Furnishing license in California.
• Must have completed a BRN recognized graduate master’s degree program as a nurse practitioner.
• Must obtain an active and/or transferable DEA license to California and provide evidence by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
• Must have submitted enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day.  CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.
• Must hold current AHA BLS as minimum requirement.   
• State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice.
• Incumbents with less than 6 months of NP experience will be hired as a Nurse Practitioner 1.

UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
