The incumbent will serve as a high-level professional whose activities will span the interface between the physicians and nurses who manage the Obstetric Unit at Benioff Children’s Hospital, San Francisco. The Nurse Practitioner will act as an independent member of the team, taking responsibility for the safe delivery of care for inpatient mothers.
The Nurse Practitioner will act as an independent member of the team, taking responsibility for the safe delivery of care for inpatient newborns. This team member will meet productivity expectations as set forth by the Division Chief, performing any duties related to patient care activities that are appropriate and clearly delineated.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of recent experience working in an OB inpatient unit (Labor and Deliver triage or Post-Partum) as a Nurse Practitioner
- Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program.
- Master’s Degree in Nursing with an OB specialization.
Preferred Qualifications
- More than 3 years of experience working as an OB NP in an inpatient setting.
- Lactation Consultant
- Bilingual
License/Certification
- California driver’s license if required for position
- Must hold current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work.
- Must hold a current and active RN and NP and Furnishing license with schedule II in California.
- Must have completed a BRN recognized graduate master’s degree program as a nurse practitioner.
- Must obtain an active and/or transferable DEA license to California and provide evidence by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
- Must have submitted enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day. CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.
- Must hold current AHA BLS as minimum requirement
- State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice
