Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, qualified Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Sarcoma Medical Oncology team. The ideal candidate has exceptional internal medicine skills and oncology experience. They will work with a multidisciplinary team providing direct patient care services. Flexible scheduling available to include Monday-Friday day shifts or four 10-hour weekday shifts per week, with flexibility to meet clinic needs. No evening or weekend call. Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Promote and maintain high standards of patient care throughout the continuum of cancer diagnosis
- Elicit detailed and accurate patient histories and preform complete physical examinations.
- Order appropriate diagnostic imaging and tests to determine medical and post treatment diagnoses, patient conditions, treatment toxicities.
- Formulate appropriate treatment plans with critical thinking skills and high-level judgement this includes prescribing appropriate medications.
- Chart patient progress maintaining detailed and accurate health records
- Protect patient confidentiality, maintain ethics and abide by North Carolina laws and Duke Health System policies.
- Participate in clinical research projects.
- Collaborating, supporting and building strong relationships with supervising and back-up physicians and APP colleagues
- Participate in education of patients, family members, new staff, students and other learners.
- Maintain up to date clinical and professional knowledge via approved CME.

Job Eligibility Requirements
Education
- Nurse Practitioners: Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master's degree in Nursing.
- Physician Assistants: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. A Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred.
Certification
License
- Nurse Practitioners: Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required. National certification as a NP required prior to or within 6 months of employment.
- Physician Assistants: Must be licensed in the state of NC, and be certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
Experience
- 1+ years of APP experience strongly preferred.
Job Hours
Monday-Friday day shift, or four 10-hour weekday shifts with flexibility to meet clinic needs.
