Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Administrative Nurse Manager and guided by the Committee on Interdisciplinary Practice (“CIDP”) Standardized Process and Outcome Protocols and Procedures of Ambulatory Services, and in collaboration with the Medical Director, the Nurse Practitioner performs physical examinations and treats common episodic and chronic health care problems with an emphasis on health maintenance and disease prevention through education and counseling. The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for triage on behalf of the practice both in person and through telephone and electronic communication. This includes cross-coverage and management of clinical team messages, prescription refills, lab orders, and referral requests. They consistently project a professional and courteous demeanor. The Nurse Practitioner may also schedule same day acute patients as identified via the practice triage protocol. The Nurse Practitioner supports the vision of the Patient-Centered Medical Home model and supports the open access and same day response requests by patients. The Nurse Practitioner shall comply with the Medical Center House and Telephone Standards.
The Nurse Practitioner must have flexibility to cover multiple UCSF medical center primary care clinic sites. UCSF Medical Center requires all Advanced Health Professionals (AHP) to be credentialed through its Medical Staff Services Office (MSSO) in order to practice and function in their clinical role. This applies to both adult and pediatric AHPs in the inpatient and outpatient clinical settings at all UCSF Medical Center sites (Parnassus, Mt. Zion, Satellite Clinics, et al). Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 30-60 days and must be completed prior to the first working day.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum of one-year recent related experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
- Current AHA CPR Certification.
- Current NP Furnishing License and verification of experience to furnish (if applicable).
- Current DEA license
- Family Nurse Practitioner specialty
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with EMR/Apex
- Previous experience in Family Medicine
License/Certification
- California driver’s license (CDL) if required for position.
- Must hold current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work.
- Must hold a current and active RN and NP and Furnishing license in California.
- Must have completed a BRN recognized graduate master’s degree program as a nurse practitioner.
- Must obtain an active and/or transferable DEA license to California and provide evidence by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
- Must have submitted enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day. CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.
- Must hold current AHA BLS as minimum requirement
- State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice
- Incumbents with less than 6 months of NP experience will be hired as a Nurse Practitioner 1
