Job Summary

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides support to the Breast Care Clinic as an educator, advocate and care provider and is responsible for the care, treatment, and well-being of patients followed in the Breast Care Clinic.  Specific job duties will be reviewed annually based on volume and practice needs. The NPs focus is on benign and malignant breast disease requiring surgical reconstruction, as well as other non-breast related diseases requiring plastic surgery. The NP works closely with the Cancer Center Medical and Surgical Oncology practices, including satellite clinics, to provide comprehensive patient care. The NP will participate in projects, programs and other activities to support clinical practice and practice operations.

Required Qualifications

Nurse Practitioner 1

  • Two to five (2 – 5) years related breast surgical oncology and/or plastic surgery experience as an RN.
  • Flexibility to orient and/or work at all UCSF Health locations and in varying schedules as outlined.

Nurse Practitioner 2

  • Two to five (2 – 5) years related breast surgical oncology and/or plastic surgery experience as an NP.
  • Flexibility to orient and/or work at all UCSF Health locations and in varying schedules as outlined.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of experience in Breast Surgical Oncology or Plastic surgery as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Experience working in an Academic Medical Center.
  • AOCNP® Certified.
  • Experience in a high patient volume Oncology practice/environment.

License/Certification

  • Caifornia driver’s license (CDL) if required for position.
  • Must hold current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work.

  • Must hold a current and active RN and NP and Furnishing license in California.
  • Must have completed a BRN recognized graduate master’s degree program as a nurse practitioner.
  • Must obtain an active and/or transferable DEA license to California and provide evidence by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
  • Must have submitted enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day.  CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.
  • Must hold current AHA BLS as minimum requirement.
  • State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice.
  • Incumbents with less than 6 months of NP experience will be hired as a Nurse Practitioner 1.

UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
