Position Summary: 

The Oncology Triage Nurse functions independently to coordinate care of oncological patients. Responsible for providing symptomatic callers professional nursing assessments utilizing current triage processes and approved guidelines, and exercises judgement based on established protocols. Triage Nurse assures communication with each caller is handled in a professional and tactful manner. Responsible for providing patient education and working directly with appropriate clinic to coordinate plan of care. Maintains program data for analysis and RFPs. Works with Oncology Director and Oncology Medical Director / team for the development and growth of the program. Provides nursing services as needed. Other responsibilities as assigned.

Salary Range: 

 

Annual Rate  Minimum  $125,363.52                       Midpoint            $145,408.32                       Maximum             $165,432.24

 

Required Qualifications:

 

Current CA RN license

Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Demonstrated practice with and knowledge of chemotherapy agents

Minimum 6 months experience working as an RN in an Inpatient or Outpatient Oncology setting OR 1 Year clinical experience and recent completion of cancer basics class from Oncology Nursing Society within previous year

Basic Life Support certification required

Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties

 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families

Oncology/Hematologic Malignancies patient population knowledge

Demonstrated knowledge of immunosuppressive therapies and care of the post-transplant patient

Oncology Nurse Certification

Knowledge of complications associated with hematological oncology conditions
