Description of Work

Create and deliver education centered on care of transgender patients.
- Educate patients of diverse backgrounds and educational levels on gender affirming care including pre and post-surgical care, hormone therapy, sexual health, and primary care needs
- Educate patients independently in clinic visits, inpatient units, and via phone and email.
- Educate medical providers on special considerations for care in gender-diverse patient populations
- Educate clinical staff in both inpatient and outpatient settings on caring for gendered and sexually diverse patients and appropriate gender-affirming care
- Create new education offerings, including clinical, evidence-based, well-researched education practices, policies and procedures, and educational tools for patients and providers.
- Present education at conference events and small trainings in a professional and relatable manner, demonstrating a complex and complete understanding of the subject matter.

Education and Experience

Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and 2 years of experience in the area of specialization.

· Strong understanding of and interest in transgender health issues
· Experience working in an ethnically, culturally, and racially diverse environment
· Demonstrated computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word and Electronic databases)
· Ability to meet deadlines and work within a team-based environment
· Ability to organize and collect data for project tracking
· Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals
· Ability to develop and deliver education to patients and providers in a sensitive manner
· Ability to maintain a calm and courteous manner during interpersonal interactions, on the phone or in person

Preferred:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
· Work experience with gender-diverse patients in a clinical setting
· Personal or professional experience navigating gender-affirming health care systems

Driver’s License required; BLS CPR certification required.

Special Physical and Mental Requirements

This position operates in both a clinical and office setting, and requires frequent times of sitting, standing, repetitive motion and talking.
Must demonstrate the ability to lift up to 24 pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation.
This position does require driving, meetings, and events.
