Job Summary
Division Charge Nurse (DCN), is responsible for assuring quality care during his/her tour of duty. He/She is responsible for efficient management of nursing resources and patient safety.
Operations – 1. Ensures smooth operational flow of unit by directing the work of assigned staff. 2. Acts as a resource for daily operational needs, providing direct patient care as needed. 3. Reviews and coordinates schedules 4. Ensures policy/procedures are enforced. 5. Ensures routine facility/equipment maintenance is performed, problems corrected and systems in place to ensure a safe and comfortable environment is maintained. 6. Collaborates and works to ensure smooth
operational flow of daily activities. Management – 1. In conjunction with the Medical Director, UK Healthcare Leadership and Patient Care Manager, assists in developing and implementing unit specific strategic plans and UKHC initiatives. 2. Maintains and updates staff procedures, staff training programs and quality assurance programs. 3. Ensures customer satisfaction by managing customer complaints and suggestions and providing appropriate follow through. Regulatory and Government Collaboration – 1. Ensures compliance with state, federal and regulatory agency requirements for facilities, equipment and staff. 2. When appropriate, works with the Medical Director to develop and implement policy and procedures. Administration – 1. Participates in organization-wide committees to establish or improve customer service and administrative plans and policies. 2. Reviews patient satisfaction surveys and other data and develop corrective action plans if appropriate. 3. Develops, runs and participates in regular staff meetings. 4. Ensures quality assurance standards are met for patients in collaboration with the PCM and Medical Director.
