Position Description:

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) is seeking exceptional and motivated candidates to serve as nurse (consultants) within the Autoimmunity and Mucosal Immunology Branch in the Division of Allergy, Immunology, and Transplantation (DAIT) and in the Division of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (DMID).

Nurse consultants In DAIT are responsible for project management, the oversight of planning and implementation of clinical and operational activities related to interventional clinical trials supported by DAIT, as well as work closely with physicians and regulatory safety experts in DAIT. Providing expertise in the oversight of clinical research, including identification and resolution of clinical monitoring issues, safety oversight issues, and day-to-day research management issues, nurse consultants also advise in the planning and implementation of DAIT-supported studies, including the evaluation of overall design, objectives, and hypotheses, along with identifying and resolving issues that might impede a proposed study. Nurse consultants also verify that all required ethical and other approvals have been acquired and that the trial data is regularly examined by an independent data and safety monitoring board.


Nurse consultants in DMID are responsible for the management and operations of clinical studies/trials supported by both grants and contracts. The Nurse (Consultant) works closely with Subject Matter Experts in the Program Branches and regulatory and safety experts in the Offices of Clinical Affairs and Regulatory Affairs. Candidates with expert knowledge of clinical trial project management to ensure that clinical trials are conducted in accordance with GCP/ICH guidelines, FDA regulations, NIAID/NIH/HHS policies and procedures, and other applicable regulatory frameworks are especially encouraged to apply.


Qualifications:

Required


  • S. citizenship
  • Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States
  • Passing of the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN)

Preferred


  • Experience independently working in the management and oversight of clinical trials and studies
  • Demonstrated knowledge of GCP/ICH Guidelines
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Experience in the project management of interventional clinical trials and/or working with NIAID-funded clinical trial networks
