The University of Pittsburgh, utilizing the depth and breadth of its research and commercialization capabilities has participated in the prestigious NSF I-Corps Site Program since 2014, and now with the NSF I-Corps Hub Interior Northeast Region (IN I-Corps) partnership with lead Cornell University and eight other partner institutions continues to participate in creating a highly developed innovation ecosystem which facilitates the translation of basic research innovations into commercially viable and societally beneficial products and services in the marketplace.

As the hub of innovation on campus, the Innovation Institute integrates with both internal and regional centers and organizations, a unified ecosystem to rapidly translate Pitt’s high-value life sciences, STEM discoveries into high-impact commercialized products that directly improve patient and public health locally, nationally, and globally. The Innovation Institute NSF Hub Program Manager will assist with the daily activities of the Hub including, outreach, training, recruiting, scheduling, data gathering, and analysis.

This senior level position is responsible for managing the Innovation Institute’s participation in the IN I-Corp program, growing program awareness within the University and the region. Regional partners, among others include entrepreneurs, regional economic development organizations, early-stage venture capitalists, companies and other educational or government funded institutions.

 

BS, advanced degree preferred in a scientific or engineering field; MBA preferred. Supervisory experience desired (over 5 years business and economic development). Must have ability to formulate company formation strategies and exhibit entrepreneurial and exceptional interpersonal skills. Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to work on multiple tasks are essential.
