About Us: The Biostatistics& Bioinfor matics department is seeking an intern to dynamically lead andimplement communication efforts as part of the NIH-funded Center forCombinatorial Gene Regulation, an NHGRI Center ofExcellence in Genome Sci ence (CEGS). The focus of the Duke CEGS is to developnew and high-throughput technologies to investigate how combinatorial generegulation contri butes to human health and disease. A multidisciplinary  teamof seven Duk e principal investigators leads the project. The intern will betasked wi th developing a communication and networking plan, along withcommunicati on materials, specifically for CEGS education initiatives with afocus on outreach to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). </spa n>

Internship Summary: Partner withcommunication team members an d research program leadership to develop andimplement a communication st rategy and associated materials in support ofgenomic outreach and educat ion initiatives.

Scopeo f Work -

            Opportunity to :

    Partner wit h communication teamsfor mentorship and networking with access to various communication platformsand modalities.

    < /span>Create content in the form ofwebsite content and news stories, social media outreach, and videos, etc. tohelp promote Duke CE GS education initiatives.

    Develop communication strategy andimplement.

●    Identify and build networks toreach key audie nces.

Requirements:

     Knowledge or interest in communityrelationships with a focus on genetics /genomics and/or educational outreachinitiatives.

●< span>    Excellent written and verbalcommunication s kills.

    Ability to work effectively aspart of a team and independently, and ability to effectiv ely communicate ideasand plans to program leadership.

    Solution-focused thinker witheagerness t o develop creative and integrated campaigns.
