 The research is comprised of a regression discontinuity design to study the impacts of smart meters and a randomized  experiment focusing on electricity access, increasing electricity load, and shifting cooking to electric appliances. 

The research assistant will work on a number of tasks, with supervision from Professor Meeks, including the following:

  • Contribute to the experimental design;
  • Write python code for downloading smart meter data from server;
  • Download bulk datasets on electricity consumption and billing;
  • Write randomization code for experiment;
  • Clean data from households surveys, smart meter server, and billing department;
  • Perform summary analyses / descriptive statistics;
  • Implement analyses for  regression discontinuity design and randomized experiment.
  • If the work together is successful, then there is potential for the research assistant to become a co-author on future papers resulting from the work. This would need to be discussed and mutually agreed upon.

    The research assistant will be paid an hourly rate of $22.50/hour.

    The research assistant will work approximately 10-20 hours per week.

    The start date is June 1st 2023 and the end date is August 15th, 2023.
