Detailed Job Description

The School of Mathematics and Statistics (SMS) at the Rochester Institute of Technology invites applications for one or more non-tenure track full-time Visiting Lecturers starting in August 2024. Visiting Lecturers are responsible for teaching and expected to have a strong commitment to and proven ability to teach foundational undergraduate courses, which include, but are not limited to, precalculus, calculus, and probability and statistics. The professional duties will include instruction, office hours, and attending college and school faculty meetings.

Department/College Description

The College/ Department: The School of Mathematics and Statistics (SMS) is one of six academic units in RIT's College of Science, which also houses the Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science, the Integrated Sciences Academy, the School of Chemistry and Materials Science, the School of Physics and Astronomy, and the Thomas H. Gosnell School of Life Sciences. The SMS promotes research in mathematical and statistical sciences and is the home of 80 faculty members, four administrative staff members, three undergraduate programs (Applied Mathematics, Computational Mathematics, and Applied Statistics and Data Analytics), two MS programs (Applied and Computational Mathematics, and Applied Statistics) and a Ph.D. program in Mathematical Modeling. The SMS offers the required mathematics and statistics courses for students from all RIT programs.


Required Minimum Qualifications

PhD. in mathematics, statistics, or a related field, with one or more years of demonstrated excellence in teaching university-level mathematics courses in an English speaking environment.  Will consider applicants with a Master's degree with demonstrated teaching excellence.
