Non Tenure Instructional Faculty (Anatomist/Medical Educator) - Office of Educational Affairs, McGovern Medical School
McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston , Office of Educational Programs , is seeking an Anatomist/Medical Educator. This is a full-time, non-tenured instructional (NTI) track faculty position. The successful candidate will join a team of anatomy educators whose primary responsibilities involve teaching human anatomy as a part of the Foundations of Medical Science course to the first-year medical students, as well as guiding independent dissection projects in the elective anatomy courses for fourth-year medical students planning to apply to surgery, pathology, or radiology residencies. Anatomy education at McGovern Medical School is taught using a combination of cadaver dissections, prosections, 3D models, and virtual anatomy technology. Anatomy teaching is also supplemented with diagnostic imaging.
Position Key Accountabilities:
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic candidate with strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills who has demonstrated success as an educator in a collaborative, team-based work environment. A record of scholarly activity should be demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications, presentations, curricula, and regional and national committee work.
Primary responsibilities will include supervising students in the dissection lab, but will also include didactic sessions, such as lectures and small groups. The candidate will also contribute to curriculum development and the creation of educational materials and experiences for a wide range of learners throughout various programs. As a faculty member, University service on committees will be expected.
Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in anatomy or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in didactic and dissection-based teaching in the full regional spectrum of medical gross anatomy is required.
- Experience in teaching related disciplines in anatomical sciences (e.g., histology, embryology) is desirable
This is an open-rank position. McGovern Medical School faculty appointment will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
