Position Details:

The Opportunity:

As the News Editor, you will be the lead editor for the reporters of Northwest Public Broadcasting (NWPB). As directed by the Multimedia News Director, you will extensively edit audio, written story, and social media content. You will also be involved with brainstorming, sourcing, listening through, fact checking, and providing feedback to improve a reporter’s story to keep to the high standards of journalistic integrity NWPB is known for.
This position can be located in Pullman, the Tri-Cities area, hybrid, or remote.


Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, humanities, public relations, OR related field AND one (1) year of writing/editing/public relations experience; OR equivalent education/experience.

  • An additional 2 years of profession writing experience. 

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Strong proofreading and editing skills.

  • Strong written and oral communications skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Work experience that demonstrates competency, proficiency, and accuracy using software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.

  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual/bi-literate Spanish/English

Monthly Salary:

Range 47 | $3,974 to $5,341 (A-M) | Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
