General Description / Primary Purpose
Assist the Director of New Student Orientation and Assistant Director of Parent Family Orientation in matters related to the development of the New Student Orientation program. Assist with leadership for the Orientation Leader program. Together with University partners and stakeholders, assists new students in programs and services that support retention; and supports the strategic enrollment and retention goals of the University.

Essential Duties


Job Function
  • Assists in developing and coordinating orientation programs. Attend all orientation sessions to oversee activities and ensure details are handled as planned.
  • Assists in maintaining data of past and current orientation programs. Collects and analyzes data related to each orientation in regards to event space, attendants and program participants.
  • Plan leadership training for Orientation Leaders
  • Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
    • conducting staff meetings with Orientation Leaders,
    • overseeing student payroll budget, assist with all marketing and design of the orientation publications,
    • maintain and update all orientation web pages and assist in planning leadership training for Orientation Leaders.
    • Mailing/preparing mailings of new student orientation literature.
    • Marketing and public relations assistance as directed.
  • Assists with student enrollment and orientation for beginning UNF students entering their first semester by contacting students.
  • Maintains all reservation databases for all orientation programs and manage inventory.
  • Exceptional event planning, tracking and follow up to answers phone calls, emails, and any correspondence received by the New Student Orientation office.

Required Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization; or a high school diploma and four years of experience directly related to the job functions. Directly related college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

  • Must be willing to work flexible hours as work hours will vary. Work hours may include some evening and weekend hours during peak season.

This position has been designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). This position has been designated as a CSA because it involves significant responsibility for student and campus activities and/or responsibility for campus security. As such, any person in this position must report to the University Police Department a crime or an incident that might be a crime that he/she becomes aware of. This position has a reporting requirement because the University believes that responsibility for students, campus activities and/or campus security will make the holder of this position someone members of the University community will see as an authority figure and someone to whom they can seek help. A CSA is not expected to investigate or determine whether a criminal incident actually took place. A CSA’s responsibility is a duty to report. All positions designated as CSAs are required to complete an online or in-person training session.
