Position Summary:

The Neuroscience Nurse Fellowship is an exciting opportunity for both new graduate and experienced registered nurses to expand their careers while serving the neuroscience patient population. UT Medical Center's neuroscience unit includes 24 Neuro Critical Care and 57 acute care beds. Staff nurses are invited to participate in a unique fellowship opportunity that prepares RNs to influence the future of neuroscience nursing and accelerate their career development. As a comprehensive stroke center, three-time Magnet-designated healthcare organization and the region's academic medical center, fellows in the program will participate in a variety of experiences that will enhance their nursing skills and provide them with the confidence and knowledge to sit for a neuroscience nursing certification. Throughout the duration of the fellowship, participants will participate in networking opportunities, leadership development and community outreach.

Highlights of the program include:

  • One year program

  • Cohorts starting in January and July

  • Mentorship opportunities

  • Lectures with neuroscience providers, covering topics such as neuro pharmacology, care for neurosurgery patients, neuroradiology/neurointerventional radiology, movement disorders, neurotrauma, and more.

  • Shadow opportunities with different departments including neurosurgery, critical care, and stroke team.

  • Paid Neuroscience Nursing Certification


Position Qualification:

Bachelors degree (BSN) or ASN

Current Registered Nurse licensure in Tennessee

New Graduate RN encouraged to apply
