The Department of Neuroscience at Baylor College of Medicine is one of the most successful and highly funded Neuroscience departments in the country.  We are located within a dynamic, collaborative research environment the Texas Medical Center in, with one of the highest densities of clinical, translational, and basic neuroscience research in the world. The Neuroscience Department, including primary and affiliated faculty, is a vibrant community with strong ties to Rice University, the Neurological Research Institute (NRI), the University of Texas Health Sciences, and the University of Houston. We have longstanding partnerships with the NeuroEngineering and Data Science faculty at Rice University, and joint appointments with relevant departments at Rice University and the University of Houston are possible.


Summary

The Department of Neuroscience at Baylor College of Medicine invites applications for a faculty position in the use of machine learning or other computational approaches applied to neuroscience. Top candidates for this position will have the motivation and interest to perform collaborative research with experimental neuroscientists to extract new insights from the large amount of multi-dimensional data that are being generating as well as motivate new experiments based on theoretical insights that test the fundamental mechanisms used by the brain to perform perception, learning and memory, motor control and cognition. We are seeking applications at the Assistant Professor level but accomplished mid-career or senior scientists at the level of Associate or full Professor with strong records of research productivity, grant support and a demonstrated collaborative spirit are also encouraged to apply. Research interests may focus on any area of computational neuroscience but the ability to synergize with other computational and experimental neuroscientists at BCM will be an important factor in our evaluations.  While the primary focus will be on research, it is expected that faculty will participate in graduate student teaching and service on committees essential to the function of the Department and College.
