Scope of Job | Responsible for assisting in the operation and maintenance of the University’s multi-campus networks, including support, problem resolution, installation, and alert follow up for network, telephone, and wireless networks. |

Required Education | Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field, or a comparable substitution of experience and education on a 1-for-1 basis. |

Licenses/Certifications | Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) certification is preferred |
Required Experience | Two (2) years of experience installing and supporting hardware, software and networking technologies, or a comparable substitution of experience and education on a 1-for-1 basis. |
Preferred Experience | None. |
Equipment | Use of standard office equipment. Experience installing and supporting hardware, software and networking technologies. Experience with network/telephone/wireless trade tools. |
Working Conditions | Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; some travel and weekend work is required. Rotating shifts may be required. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. |
Other | Knowledge of the practices, principles, and techniques of computer/telephone/wireless networks, local and wide area networks, of VoIP protocols and codecs, information systems (in general), computer software and hardware, and of information security policies and procedures. Competent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills. Good planning and organizational skills. |
